I am an associate professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen Univeristy. Before this, I was a postdoctoral researcher working with Dr. Chaoli Wang and Dr. Nitesh Chawla at the University of Notre Dame. I graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2015. My PhD advisors are Dr. Ching-Kuang Shene and Dr. Chaoli Wang.

My research focuses on the enabling techniques to visually explore and analyze data towards comprehensive understanding, with an emphasis on scientific data. My previous research included a suite of interactive approaches for exploratory flow visualization and pedagogical visualization tools for flow concepts and crytography. Currently, I am particularly interested in the use of deep learning and topological tools to extract intrinsic structure in scientific data, higher-order networks to understand sequence data and diffusion patterns, graph-based visualization techniques to explore data, and interactive techniques in AR/VR scenarios.

I am currently seeking highly-motivated PostDocs, PhD, Master, and undergraduate students interested in developing innovative visualization techniques to discover hidden information in data. Please refer to the recruitment information for detail.

CryptoMentor
CryptoMentor is a suite of cryptography visualization tools. Each tool covers one algorithm and provides a self-explaining interface. Most of the algorithms covered by standard undergraduate texts are supported, including the Vigenère cipher, DES, AES, RSA, SHA and elliptic curve cryptography.
